Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, our work reflects a deep understanding of the region’s landscape, climate, and culture. Since our founding, we’ve embraced a collaborative approach, one that centers the people we’re designing for.

The legacy of architects who have shaped this field is a powerful influence, and like many firms, 2FORM Architecture has grown and evolved over time. Richard Shugar opened his practice in 2002 to develop an architecture that captured the relationship between people and the environment. In 2004, he partnered with Edward Waterbury to form Waterbury Shugar Architecture. After Ed's untimely passing in the summer of 2006, Richard continued the firm’s commitment to exceptional design, honoring the shared vision they had developed. Building on his years of experience, Richard reimagined the firm, transforming it into 2fORM Architecture. This marked the firm’s entry into the new century. Today, 2fORM offers a full range of architectural services, from healthcare and public facilities to commercial and residential projects.
